Fashionphiles, the time has arrived. The 2024 Met Gala is here, and we’ve got our eyes locked on the red carpet, where some of the biggest stars in the world stepped out in their fashion finery.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘The Garden of Time’, inspired by the J.G. Ballard short story of the same name. Stars and their stylists also looked to the coinciding Metropolitan Museum exhibit, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,’ which, according to the Met’s official website, will be “visually united by iconography related to nature, which will serve as a metaphor for the fragility and ephemerality of fashion and a vehicle to examine the cyclical themes of rebirth and renewal.”

 

While there were plenty of literal Sleeping Beauty references, the participating designers were predictably playful with the concept, as we’ve seen in years past. The 2023 theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” certainly brought all kinds of unexpected results when the stars made their grand entrance.

This year’s celebrity co-chairs included Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny. The sponsors for 2024 were Loewe and TikTok, while the honorary chairs were Shou Chew and Jonathan Anderson.
