‘My son’: Nthati Moshesh is heartbroken over Mpho Sebeng

Actors Nthati Moshesh, Thuso Mbedu and Kagiso Modupe are mourning their friend and co-star Mpho Sebeng.

The 31-year-old actor passed away on Sunday, 5 May in a car crash in North West.

Legendary actress Nthati Moshesh shared a photo of herself and her late Ingoma co-star Mpho Sebeng who played her son.

She said: “I remember this scene so vividly. You reacted to my tears and that made me cry even harder on Ingoma: the Song“.

“If I’d known that this was one of my last hugs to you, I would have squeezed you tighter young beautiful, kind, loving, respectful man.”

Zimoja reports that Moshesh says Mpho had an impeccable fashion sense. “And your fashion sense was out of this world. I used to praise you so much at every function. I hope I said I love you and admire you enough.”

“We shared screen time on; Savage Beauty, Ring of Lies, Saints and Sinners, and lastly on Ingoma, the Song.”

The fan-favourite actress also thanked the Sebengs for raising Mpho: “To the Sebeng (your beloved mom) family. We are at a loss for words. We share your sorrow and grief. Thank you for birthing this amazing soul. South Africa mourns with you. Our humblest and deepest sympathies. Love you, screen son. We will remember your craft and talent and love of storytelling.”

Actress Thuso Mbedu who starred alongside Mpho Sebeng in Saints and Sinners took to Instagram on Monday to pay tribute to the actor.

The pair who were friends in real life, portrayed the roles of classmates Boni Khumalo and Nkosi in the e.tv TV show.

Mbedu penned a letter to express grief after hearing the news, saying she was in disbelief. Thuso went on to recall their times together.

“Having heard of Mpho’s passing, something in me short-circuited. What are the words that one is supposed to string together? Even now I’m seeing the posts and the changed profile pics, but my brain is refusing to accept why it’s happening.”

“When I force myself to connect the dots, it feels like my heart slows down and I have to remind myself to breathe,” says Mbedu.

@Bellabiyanca: “I am so sorry Sis Nthati. I can only imagine your pain because it cuts so deep. To us not even having known him personally. May God comfort all of you. This is such a huge loss.”

Actor Kagiso Modupe who acted with Mpho Sebeng says he now understands the meaning of sadness and helplessness.

“Today I understand the meaning of sadness and helplessness. I’m shocked, sad but mostly broken by your passing. I miss you already man.”

“Mpho the Sebeng with the Bang Bang! I’m glad we shared the brotherhood love we had for each other, the love we had for God and our ancestors, but mostly the love we had for storytelling.”

“I’m sad Mpho, I really am sad. The silence is too loud. Why now? There was still so much we needed to do. I was waiting for a wedding invitation, not this one my boy. I have no words just amazing memories and a sad tomorrow. Rest well, my brother.”
