According to ZiMoja, the director and playwright is no longer the brand ambassador for Budget Insurance. The deal, which he landed in 2022 along with Springboks scrum-half, Faf de Klerk, was reportedly worth millions.

In addition to this, the former The Queen actor has allegedly also been fired from his role as Washington on the Mzansi Magic telenovela, Champions. According to a source, the production company behind the show, Tshedza Pictures, decided to kill off Maake kaNcube’s character towards the end of April. His character was reportedly set to die in June.

“He will still get paid until the end of the season but he is out,” said the source.

Asked for a comment, Maake KaNcube said it’s best to contact the executive producers of the show. On the other hand, Mzansi Magic did not confirm nor deny the rumours, saying Washington’s character will have developments on the show.

SECOND DIVORCE
The news comes a few days after Sunday World reported that the former The Herd actor and his wife, Pearl Mbewe, are headed for divorce.

A source told the publication that the pair – who got married in 2021 – argued about Maake kaNcube’s alleged former partner, resulting in the actor chasing Mbewe out of their marital home in Dube, Soweto.

The former partner is reported to be Cynthia Hlahla, also known as Lacoste, whom Maake KaNcube was reportedly flirting with. Sunday World reported that in their text conversations, the Skeem Saam star wanted to know if Hlahla was in a relationship. He reportedly also told her that she’s always on his mind. However, Hlahla allegedly did not buy his story.

“She said he was just pretending to love her, saying she knew he was in love with Pearl. She even asked him to be honest with her and tell her if he wants her to help him leave South Africa for the US instead of lying about having the hots for her,” said the source.

After Maake kaNcube’s wife moved out, the actor reportedly tried to rekindle their flame by sending a delegation to pay the remaining lobolo for her, however, Mbewe rejected his advances.

Upon failing to win Mbewe back, the actor contacted Swanepoel van Zyl Attorneys to help him file for divorce. The firm reportedly wanted R25 000 payment upfront.

Speaking to Sunday World, Maake KaNcube confirmed contacting the law firm.

“I have not even paid them yet,” he said.

This will be the actor’s second divorce, as he was previously married to Palesa Mboweni with whom he tied the knot in 2015 but divorced eight months later – according to TshisaLIVE.
