Over the years, Mzansi has been trying to connect the dots on whether Dr Zweli Mkhize and Royal AM owner Mamkhize are related against the backdrop of their same surname.

Could the two be related?

Shauwn Mkhize is a celebrated multi-millionaire with several businesses under her watch. MaMkhize is dubbed as one of the wealthiest women in South Africa. No doubt she lives lavishly and is unapologetic about it.

The Royal AM owner has made a considerable chunk of her net worth from tenders. However, she also doubles as a reality star and actress. MaMkhize was born and raised in Umbumbulu in KwaZulu-Natal. Of interest, she is the daughter of former ANC anti-apartheid activist Florence Mkhize.On the other hand, her father was killed in 1991. Her mother was also an ANC councillor in eThekwini and passed away in 2008.

DR ZWELI MKHIZE

Dr Zwelini Lawrence Mkhize was born on 2 February 1956 in Willowfontein in KwaZulu Natal. He graduated from the University of Natal with an MBChB in 1982.

However, he was also an anti-apartheid activist and later switched the floor to politics. Dr Zweli Mkhize is dubbed as one of the African National Congress (ANC) bigwigs.

 

 

 

He is the longest-serving health MEC In South Africa. He served the position for a decade in the provincial government of KwaZulu-Natal. Zweli Mkhize also served as the Minister of Health but resigned in 2021 amid corruption allegations that implicated Digital Vibes.

ARE THE TWO RELATED?
In 2022, the two hogged headlines when their viral photos together flooded social media. However, MaMkhize even referred to Zweli Mkhize as her father, leaving social media abuzz.

MaMkhize revealed in a post that dates back to 19 May 2022 that she resolved a family feud between Dr Zweli Mkhize and his son Dedani Mkhize.

She captioned her post, “As a big sister, I took it upon myself to come and play my role to unite the family ahead of this weekend’s festivities. It broke my heart to see my dear father, Dr Zweli Mkhize, and my little brother Dedani at odds with each other, but today, we have defied the odds and proved that blood is thicker than water.”

However, despite Dr Zweli Mkhize not being MaMkhize’s biological father, the two are closely related and are not shy about showing it off.
