Boikie Pholo Biography in real life

Appreciation post to Ntate Boikie Pholo 🙏 He was born on 8 March 1940 in Orkney, North West of South Africa. Unlike many old guards in the entertainment industry, he didn’t grow up confined to acting. Rather he was a teacher and was enrolled at Batswana College in Johannesburg.
Pholo thrust into the limelight barely came three months after quitting teaching. In 1986 he landed his first role as a lead actor in a radio drama called “Mabopane” in 1986. Pholo’s breakout role was playing the lead in the popular series “Lesilo Rulo”.

His character was, ‘Raithlwana’, a ruthless man that would terrorize his neighbourhood with his zombie named ‘Lesilo’. His other major role was that of ‘Mmusisi Ratau’ in the hilarious sitcom “Ga Re Dumele” on SABC 2.
Pholo has also featured and starred in films such as “Road to Your Heart in 2014, both “Ballade vir ‘n Enkeling” and “Treurgrond” in 2015 as well as “Skoroko” in 2016.
Boikie has gone on to star either as a guest or recurring role in many other South African television shows such as “Soul Buddyz”, “Generations” and “The Queen”. Boikie Pholo is now set to play ‘Bra Joe” in SABC 2’s new medical drama “Vutha” alongside other industry greats like Dumisani Mbebe and Molobane Mbatha.
