‘You’ll always be my person’: Thuso Mbedu’s tribute to Mpho Sebeng leaves SA in tears

Tributes and messages of condolences have been pouring in since the news of the untimely death of actor Mpho Sebeng, who died in a car accident.


 

The talented actor died in a car accident in Potchefstroom, North West, on 5 May.

Mpho Sebeng’s close friend and fellow actor, Zola Hashatsi, confirmed the news on social media. He posted, “It is with a sad, deep, painful heart that I announce the passing of a young brother, friend I took in to replace us when we exited Craze TV, a thespian that was Mpho Sebeng.”

Mpho Sebeng’s family also confirmed his death with a statement that has since gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped. However, against the posts, fellow fans and celebrities flooded social media with heartfelt tributes.

However, Thuso Mbedu is trending against the backdrop of her tribute to Mpho Sebeng. Actress Thuso Mbedu shared some of her priceless moments with Mpho Sebeng. She captioned the now-viral photos with a heartfelt tribute that has since left Mzansi in tears.

The award-winning actress posted, “Mpho made it so easy to love him. Having heard of Mpho’s passing, something in me short-circuited. What are the words that one is supposed to string together? Even now, I’m seeing the posts and the changed profile pics, but my brain refuses to accept why it’s happening.”

Thuso Mbedu added, “This is a big wound that will take forever to sew itself back together. Handle with care. Mphowowo…then. Now. Forever. You’ll always be my person. Thank you for doing life with us, my friend.”

However, fans quickly flooded her comments section with some messages of comfort. Reality TV star LaConco was one of the celebrities who comforted the actress.

Reacting to Thuso Mbedu’s post, controversial influencer Cyan Boujee posted, “We all thought of you when we heard his passing. May God mend whatever is broken in you. “

With a career spanning years, he quickly became a darling to many. He had his first prominent role in Winnie. Mpho Sebeng went on to star in several productions, including Justice For All, Zero Tolerance, Bay of Plenty, Scandal and The Throne.

He had his first lead role in Ring of lies. However, his lead role won him Best Male Actor at the 2018 South African Film and Television Awards.
