‘My stomach is falling’: Gayton McKenzie on impressive weight loss

It started off as a challenge to fit into his suit jacket; now, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie claims that his healthy mindset has become his new lifestyle.

The outspoken politician has bragged about losing more than 15 kg since taking over the department three months ago.

This has included eating clean and participating in marathons.

GAYTON MCKENZIE PERMANENTLY ADOPTS HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
In a tweet posted on Sunday, 6 October, Gayton McKenzie revealed that he had taken part in another marathon, The Big Walk, in Johannesburg.

The event, spearheaded by the Department of Sport, took part on World Walking Day.

In a clip, Gayton said of his decision to participate: “If you live healthy, you can shed the weight. I’m still on it; I feel better, and this is my lifestyle now.

“I wanted to do 15kms, but they said I should do five. This is a warm-up for me”.

He jokingly added: “I’m healthy, I’m fresh, health is wealth. My stomach is falling, whether you are jealous or not!”.

In recent weeks, Gayton has been showing off his “summer body” preparations after taking up physical exercise and eating healthy.

In his latest weigh-in video, the 50-year-old claimed he had lost over 15kgs since being sworn in as minister.

Gayton also revealed that he was finally able to fasten his suit jacket – the motive for his weight loss mission.

In a tweet last month, the bubbly minister revealed that he had given Deputy President Paul Mashatile the good news at their meeting at the Presidential Imbizo in Ekhuruleni.

At Gayton’s Minister of Sport swearing-in ceremony in July, he claimed that Paul had cautioned him to “fasten” his suit jacket, which he claimed he couldn’t do because of his weight.

“My tummy was in the way,” he joked.

This time, however, Gayton proved that his suit jacket was finally able to fasten, thanks to his weight loss. “Don’t hate, my jacket is closing!” he tweeted.
