Halala! DJ Sbu employed back at the SABC, to host breakfast show

‘I SIGNED IT TODAY’: DJ SBU SIGNS CONTRACT WITH THE SABC
In 2015 DJ Sbu hosted a popular Saturday show on Metro FM called Sound Revival, SowetanLIVE reported. In that year, he got booted by the SABC and at the prime of his career. As rumours swirled around about firing him, SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago is said to have not been able to confirm or deny the reason behind his exit.

“That is a private contract matter between an employee and an employer,” Kganyago was quoted as saying.

According to IOL, during a YouTube interview, the Mofaya energy drink boss opened up about what led to him getting fired by the SABC.

“I posted a picture of me with Sis Khanyi Mbau holding a Mofaya can at the Metro FM Awards, and I think that’s the reason I got fired from the SABC for having done that because I got suspended, then a couple of weeks later I got fired,” DJ Sbu was quoted as saying.

Nonetheless, all seems to be water under the bridge between the experienced radio personality and the broadcasting company. The 46-year-old has recently taken to Instagram and revealed that he has signed a new contract with his previous employer.

“To God be the glory. I signed it [the contract] today guys! This one is for the culture. Thank you to all who’ve held me down over the years. I am back on mainstream morning radio. I missed you guys,” he captioned.

DJ Sbu will be on Radio 2000 in the mornings between 06:00 am to 09:00 am from Mondays to Fridays. “I’m back in the building… Breakfast Show with No Name. We want you to name the show,” he wrote.

On the other hand, DJ Sbu’s Mofaya business has rocketed to new heights since he started it in 2014. Last year, he announced that he had inked a deal with Shoprite Checkers. According to Kasi Enterprise, DJ Sbu has also shared that he has secured a deal to get his energy drink to be exported to America.

“Eventually, we got our FDA approval for MoFaya. Now there is a gate that has just opened to be able to export to America and have a business there,” he was quoted as saying.
