Engine problem: DJ Shimza opens up about ‘chaotic’ flight scare

South African-born disc jockey Ashley Kholofelo Raphala who is popularly known as DJ Shimza recently had a flight scare on his way back to Mzansi from Paris, ZiMoja reported.


 


 

‘IT WAS CHAOTIC’: DJ SHIMZA ON FLIGHT SCARE
According to the publication, the flight DJ Shimza was on allegedly encountered an engine problem about an hour and 30 minutes after it took off from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. The flight was allegedly ultimately forced to turn back to where it had taken off.

Despite the unexpected ordeal, the 36-year-old disc jockey is reported to have shared that he was as cool as a cucumber, trusting technology, and putting all his faith in God.

“I’m really not scared of such things, I believe in technology and the fact that if God decides, there’s nothing I can do. I was not panicking at all,” DJ Shimza was quoted as saying.

In the middle of it all, the disc jockey said most of all, he was worried about his fans who are expecting to see him at his coming highly anticipated gig which is set to take place this weekend.

“It was chaotic inside the aircraft, but my concern was the people who bought tickets and booked their tables, other than that, I knew there was nothing I could do,” the beloved disc jockey was quoted as saying.

UPCOMING EVENTS
According to his tour guide, DJ Shimza is booked to play at the Kunye event in Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal on 6 April. After that, he also has two more gigs in South Africa before heading back to Paris, France for another scheduled gig.

BLACK COFFEE DETAILS TRAVEL ACCIDENT ON FLIGHT
DJ Shimza’s alleged former rival, DJ Black Coffee — real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo was also involved in a travel accident recently. According to a statement shared on social media, the Drive hitmaker was en route to his scheduled gig in Mar Del Plata when his flight was involved in the “travel accident”.

After laying low for some time, Black Coffee eventually made his first appearance since the accident. He was spotted wearing a neck-brace at the State of the Nation (SONA) speech in Cape Town, Kaya FM reported.

Since then, he eventually opened up about the incident during an interview with Kaya FM’s Thabo ‘Tbose’ Mokwele, saying his life flashed before his very eyes, IOL reported.

“I took a nap and woke up to something that felt like a dream or nightmare and the plane was shaking violently. I opened my eyes and everyone was trying to hold on… It was not quick. That was the most painful thing about this incident… And then I woke up in the hospital,” Black Coffee was quoted as saying.
