Career
Thembi Seete is best known as one of the members of the kwaito supergroup Boom Shaka, from 1994-2000.
After the group split, she launched a solo career and everything seemed to fall into place.
She played a minor role in the 2000 film Hijack Stories, but first made her mark in the hard-hitting controversial SABC1 drama series Yizo Yizo.
She also sang the popular track Sure Ntombazana for the soundtrack to Yizo Yizo 2 which was a stepping stone for her music career.
In 2001 Thembi released her debut solo album “Lollipop” which was a resounding success and was followed up by a second album Smatsatsa, featuring hits like Shayi Zandla and Mphate Kahle as well as featuring kwaito sensation Skwatta Kamp.
Between 2000 and 2004, she landed a role at Gaz’lam, which is a drama series at SABC1. In this series, she played the role of Lerato.
In 2005 she landed a role in ‘Crossing the Line’, which is an African movie that was made for TV.
Here, she pulled the role of Pumla. in 2006 she had the chance to play the leading role in SABC1’s Zone 14; a soccer drama series. Here, she played the role of Nina Moloi for the four seasons of the show.
In 2015, she landed herself a gig on the soapie where she played the role of Bongi and in 2020, she also landed a role as Gladys in Mzansi Magic telenovela Gomora.
She also owns a make-up range and runs a beauty bar called Azuri with Mbali Nkosi and Sharon Khuzwayo.
In 2022, She was named as the co-host Mzansi Magic reality music competition Idols SA.
