Former Isidingo actress Michelle Botes has been celebrated as one of the top villains in Mzansi following her untimely passing.

Messages of tribute and condolence are pouring in following the passing of talented actress Michelle Botes.
As reported by the Afrikaans magazine Bruis, the actress died on Saturday morning at her home in Observatory, Cape Town.
Botes had an illustrious acting career spanning decades and starred in TV shows such as Seeduiker, Legacy and Isidingo.
The 62-year-old actress portrayed the villainous character Cherel de Villiers-Haines in the soap opera Isidingo.
The role made her a household name with a legion of fans. Between 2006 and 2012, she also received SAFTA nominations for Best Actress in a TV soap.

South Africans have praised her as one of the greatest villains the country has ever had.
Media personality Anele Mdoda wrote on X:
“The best to ever do it. When she killed Duncan, her own husband’s son, I knew we had unlocked another level of villain. Rest in peace Michelle Botes but to us… Cherel Devilliers Haines.”

The actress passed away after a battle with cancer. In a recent interview with Bruis, the actress opened up about her prolonged struggle with a rare form of cancer.
She shared that for the past two and a half years, she had been battling advanced multiple myeloma, an uncommon and incurable blood cancer that impacts the bone marrow.
