‘Surreal’: National anthem singer on first Springboks experience

A week after Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane sang Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika at Loftus Versfeld, Joyous Celebration star Ntokozo Mbambo belted out the national anthem on behalf of the Springboks at Kings Park Stadium.

And just like in Pretoria, the crowd in Durban went wild over the spectacular performance.

Sadly, South Africa suffered a devastating 25-24 loss to Ireland in the final minute following last week’s victory. This ends their two-test match series.

SINGER REFLECTS ON SPRINGBOKS EXPERIENCE
With her smooth vocals and powerful presence, Ntokozo Mbambo had the crowd singing their hearts out alongside her at Kings Park Stadium on Saturday, 13 July.

In an Instagram post, the gospel star reflected on the experience.

She shared: “What an HONOUR to have sung the South African national anthem for the first time for the Springboks in my hometown of Durban! It was surreal”.

Mbambo added: “Thank you, Father, for the many, many blessings, amen!”
