‘Showmax paid for Babes Wodumo’s lobola’: Mampintsha’s sister Pinky Gumede

Late Kwaito star Mampintsha-born Mandla Maphumulo’s sister Pinky Gumede has dropped another bombshell alleging that the first two seasons of Uthando Lodumo were fake.

She made the damning allegations as she revealed that the streaming channel Showmax and Parental Advisory Production footed all the expenses of Mampintsha’s wedding with Babes Wodumo to win viewers.

MAMPINTSHA’S SISTER PINKY GUMEDE DROPS ANOTHER BOMBSHELL
Speaking to the media, she alleged that Showmax and the production company that produced the reality show paid all the expenses from lobola (dowry) payments to make-up and clothes.

Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo-born Bongekile Simelane tied the knot in April 2021. The star-studded lavish wedding took place at the Ebandla Hotel in Billito, Durban.

Speaking to Sunday World, Gumede revealed that the showrunners footed everything since the two were broke. She has it that the family was never informed about the wedding on time.

Pinky Gumede said, “So we decided to go with the flow. We were then rushed to a shopping mall, where they bought us outfits for the wedding. Showmax and the production were paying for those costs.

“I know this because they were the ones choosing clothes and paying. On top of that, Mandla and Bongekile were broke.”

However, Babes Wodumo was quick to downplay the reports.

Her spokesperson and manager, Nondumiso Simelane, said, “Pinky knows nothing about lobola negotiations. Mandla (Mampintsha) was never broke, and he paid lobola out of his own pocket.

“I can confirm that, as the Simelanes, we received lobola from Mandla, not from Showmax or PAP. Pinky wouldn’t know this because she’s never helped Mandla with anything.”

MAKING HEADLINES
All the allegations come after Gumede threatened to expose and take legal action against Moja Love over unpaid fees from the reality show.

She threatened to drag Moja Love to court if she did not get what she deserved. Pinky Gumede reportedly demands payment for a new reality show that will air on Moja Love in March.

However, against the news of the show’s premiere, Pinky Gumede warned, “Hell will break loose if this show is aired without my payment.”

She alleges that she hasn’t been paid and that they were once mistreated in the other seasons by the same production company.

Pinky Gumede said that Thomas once approached them, asking to shoot uThando Lodumo, but they were never paid as agreed. Now, according to reports, she intends to fight the new show.

“We shot two seasons with them, and we were badly paid. Even then, we were ill-treated and had to fight for our money,” Pinky Gumede said.
