Sad: SABC Sepedi newsreader Willie Matlawa has passed away at the age of 67

#heartbreakingNews Rest in peace to former colleague, Bra Willie Matlawa, who used to anchor the Sepedi News on SABC 2. What a truly kind and grounded person he was—showing respect to everyone, whether young or old. Some of us were lucky enough to have worked alongside such a remarkable figure 🙌🏽.
I recall a day when there was a protest happening, and I was summoned to read the news. When I arrived, everyone was upset because the goal was to ensure the bulletin didn’t air (which I had no idea about—I would’ve never agreed if I’d known). Despite the tension, Ntate Matlawa was the only one who stood up for me, saying, “But Palesa wasn’t aware, handle the issue, not her.”
Rest in peace, Ma-Willies, as I used to call him affectionately 🕊️.The SABC announced on Tuesday, 1 October that the legendary Sepedi newsreader Willie Matlawa has passed away.
