South African-born DJ and producer Black Coffee – real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo – is known to live an extravagant life. And while fans have seen his luxury homes, cars and expensive clothes, one never imagines that he’d sport a watch that is valued at a staggering R4 million.
BLACK COFFEE ROCKS R4 MILLION WATCH
The Grammy Award-winning musician had guests over at his new upmarket mansion for his housewarming party on Saturday, 9 March. Video clips and pictures of his humble abode have been circulating on social media and with that, his very expensive watch also caught his fans’ attention.
According to Chrono24, the Patek Philippe Nautilus (which is a rose gold sunburst brown dial self winding watch) costs R4 107 491. The website states that the dial features analog date, moon phases and a power reserve indicator.
Black Coffee’s star-studded housewarming party coincided with the Soweto Derby. In one video clip, the person behind the camera can be heard asking him if he supports Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates. Responding to the question, while entertaining his guests on the decks as the football match played on the TV set in the back, the Ready For You DJ responded that he’s an Amakhosi fan.
“Peace and love always, my brother,” he is heard saying.
Unfortunately for the musician, Chiefs lost the match 3-2 to Pirates.
DIVORCE FROM ENHLE
Black Coffee was previously married to actress and fashion designer Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa. However, the pair split in 2019. Allegations of infidelity and abuse were at the core of their separation as the DJ had fathered two children with other women during their marriage.
While the former couple have not yet finalised their divorce, they have moved on with other people.
Following the Superman hitmaker’s flight accident in January, Enhle revealed during an Instagram Live session that she is in a happy and healthy relationship. Meanwhile, IOL reports that Black Coffee is dating Venezuelan model Victoria Gonzalez.
THE DJ ON HOW HE FAILED IN HIS MARRIAGE WITH ENHLE
In an interview with Thabo “T-Bose” Mokwele on Kaya FM earlier this month, the DJ opened up about their marriage and buying the A Safe Bet actress a very fancy car.
“One day I bought my ex a very fancy car and the response wasn’t what I expected. She wasn’t as excited as I expected. And, for me, especially at the time, it was a super fancy car and I expected her to even cry. She was like ‘oh, it’s nice. Thank you,’” he said.
“And it sat with me for a long time, as someone who was not appreciating.”
He added that he learnt that sometimes what one wishes for their loved ones is not what they wish for themselves.
Before this point, Black Coffee had explained that he had modelled marriage his own way and without discussing it or involving his partner.
“Because of my upbringing and my parents failing in marriage, and me not being raised by both of them, I created my own world where I’m like ‘you know when I get a chance to do this thing, I’m going to do it this way’.
“[I did that] so much that you want to lead in everything. You wanna cover everything. You want to be the driver of this thing, so much that you forget that there’s someone next to you who holds the map… you’re a driver, there’s a navigator, and both of you are important.
“So, every time I would make a move that was big for us, and it wasn’t received like that [with appreciation] a part of me was dying. Because I was like ‘trust me, I know how this thing is going to work. Trust ME. Let me take this thing forward.’”
