RIP: Connie Chiume’s family confirm cause of death

The entertainment industry is mourning the passing of Gomora actress Connie Chiume who passed away on Tuesday, 6 August at 72 years.


 

ACTRESS: CAUSE OF DEATH
The family of the legendary actress Connie Chiume confirmed her cause of death in a statement on Instagram on Wednesday, 7 August.

“Mam Connie passed away on 6 August 2024 at Garden City Hospital after a period of illness”, says the family.

“Her children would like to express their deep appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff who provided exceptional care during her stay.”

The family also reveals that details of her memorial and funeral services will be shared on the actress’ social media platforms.

Chiume is known for her TV roles on e.tv’s soapie Rhythm City, SABC’s Zone 14, Soul City, Mazinyo Dot Q and Mzansi Magic’s Gomora.

CELEBS PAY TRIBUTE TO CONNIE CHIUME
Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o, who starred alongside Connie Chiume in Black Panther, as well as South African actors Sello Maake KaNcube and Sanna Mchunu also paid their tributes.

“We have lost a library! May Connie Chiume rest in peace and power,” wrote Nyong’o.

TV personality, Minnie Dlamini wrote: “Ulale ngokuthula Ma wami (Rest in peace, my mom). You told me to never stop fighting for this business and that when our kids decide to venture into our business. It’s better than when we did it!!! We will keep fighting in your name.”

Skeem Saam actor Sello Maake KaNcube said: “I still can’t believe you took your last sleep and checked out so soon. Your soul will be missed by many of us! Till we meet again!”
