Rachel Kolisi has revealed why she and ex-husband Siya Kolisi continue to work together despite their divorce last year. The former couple, who shocked fans when they ended their eight-year marriage, remain committed to their shared mission of improving lives in South Africa through their foundation.
In a heartfelt interview on the Wisdom and Wellness podcast with Mpoomy Ledwaba, Rachel shared the inspiring conversation she and Siya had the night before the 2019 Rugby World Cup final. “Great success brings with it significant responsibility,” she said. “We shared a vision for change in South Africa and believed that a victory could spark transformation.”
Rachel explained how their shared goals have driven their work. “Before the World Cup, we were already contributing in small ways—supporting libraries, donating books, and organizing stationery drives. Now, with the foundation, we’re making a much bigger impact,” she added.
The 35-year-old also opened up about her personal struggles, including her battle with depression. “Life can be incredibly difficult,” she admitted. “I’ve faced severe depression, even attempting to end my life as a teenager. But serving others has been a lifeline for me. It’s a divine gift to love, empathize, and truly see others.”
Despite their separation, Rachel and Siya’s commitment to their foundation remains unwavering. Their story has inspired many, proving that even after heartbreak, unity for a greater cause is possible.
