After all, his visit comes months after he promised to visit South Africa to share concepts with a string of SA artists he wishes to work with on his new album.
In March 2024, Rick Ross approached award-winning rapper Nasty C about a joint project. A month later, he also made similar plans with Nadia Nakai.
The American rapper made his intentions known during a live Instagram post, during which Rick Ross asked the “Naaa Meaan” rapper to be part of his next project.
“I’m just going through your catalogue, listening to that heat you dropping, and I’m commending you like a boss. I’ve been playing ‘Naaa Meaan’ and vibing to it.
However, Nadia Nakai was quick to agree. The two also talked about tagging along some of the best producers. The bubbly rapper was quick to give GT Beats and Tweezy a nod.
Rick Ross elaborated on the project, “I have to come (to SA). It’s like we are putting concepts together; there are people sending amazing beats and records, but we gotta come, and we gotta get into the studio and collab. Let’s film it and go through the city.”
Did Rick Ross also visit South Africa for his promised music project? After all, he has made several promises to visit South Africa in recent years.
PREVIOUS VISIT
This is not the first time the American rapper has visited South Africa or collaborated with a South African artist.
In 2018, Kwetsa took Rick Ross to the streets of Soweto after the two performed their smash hit Kuhambani at the Mustang Room in Johannesburg.
Kwesta was seen with Rick Ross in the streets, shooting a music video for the smash hit.
However, Kwesta’s mother had to interrupt the shoot at some point so that he could send the two to buy some bread.
Another location for the shoot was Katlehong, Kwesta’s hometown, which he calls K1.
