Gilberto has since been nicknamed Majaivane thanks to his Angolan fused dance moves.
JOINING THE SOWETO GIANTS
The 23-year-old star joined Orlando Pirates in June from Angolan outfit Petro Luanda. Reports have it that he has been on the club’s wish list for seasons.
Despite being contracted to Petro Luanda until 2025, Orlando Pirates went to great lengths to secure his signature after the club listened to several offers.
On 26 June, FarPost confirmed the signing of Gilberto. Gilberto joined Orlando Pirates on a three-year contract.
CAREER
The 23-year-old star was born on 10 March 2001. Gilberto is affectionately known as Gibelé. Despite his newfound fame, little is known about his youth academy career.
However, he started his senior career with Real Sambila in 2019.
After a season with the club, he went on to join Libolo. Gilberto managed three goals in 20 appearances. However, his command of the game and flair saw him join Petro de Luanda in 2022.
His stint with Petro de Luanda was as colourful as many thought it would be. The winger netted 16 goals from 30 appearances during his two-year season stint and made his CAF Champions League appearance.
Last season, the star, who operates predominantly on the right wing, registered two assists from nine appearances in the CAF Champions League.
