Early Life of Ntando Duma
Ntando Duma was born in Johannesburg, Gauteng, on August 29, 1995, in the township of Orange Farm. She grew up in a modest household with her mother, grandmother, and siblings, including her sister Thando Duma. Her father left the family when she was three years old, and he passed away in 2008.Growing up, Ntando was involved in community activities, which helped shape her love for media. Love Life activities, held at different schools in Orange Farm, provided a platform for her to nurture her passion. Her family later moved to Alexandra, where she completed her primary and secondary education.Ntando Duma has a child with a popular South African DJ, Junior DeRocka. Their daughter, Sbahle Mzizi, was born on June 28, 2017. Unfortunately, the couple’s relationship was somewhat toxic, and they ended it in 2017. This came after months of abuse, speculations and unhappiness in their relationship.
Ntando has taken to social media to share that she has suffered at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, Junior. She has accused him of emotionally and physically abusing her. According to Ntando, she once caught Junior in bed with another woman on December 25, 2016, and he allegedly physically assaulted her. She has also accused Junior of neglecting their daughter, as he chooses to spend time with other children instead.
In response to Ntando’s accusations, Junior claims they are unfounded and malicious. He further claims that he supports his daughter as required and has even posted receipts of money sent to Ntando for their daughter’s upkeep.
Ntando Duma started her career in the entertainment industry by distributing Vine videos. Eventually, she became more comfortable in front of the camera and pursued hosting opportunities. She began by hosting shows such as Sistahood, Craz-e, and ShizNiz.
After getting comfortable with hosting, Ntando pursued acting and landed a role on the popular South African soap opera Rhythm City in 2014. She played the role of Zinzi Dandala and quickly gained popularity among viewers. She also worked as a model and was part of the 2015 Soweto Fashion Week runway.
However, Ntando is best known as a TV host on the popular music channel MTV Base Africa. The bubbly presenter also hosted the show “Gqom Nation.” She also worked alongside the comedian, musician, and MC Robot Boii. They worked as presenters for the Channel O Lockdown Quarantine Party, which was started after the world was forced into an instant lockdown due to Covid-19.
In 2020, Ntando joined the cast of the popular South African telenovela, The Queen, playing the role of Mpho Sebata. However, in June 2021, it was announced that she would be leaving the production. Despite this setback, Ntando has remained popular in the South African entertainment industry.
