Nomzamo Mbatha wins ‘Best African Actress’ at Amsterdam’s Septimius Awards

South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha is making headlines after she received international recognition for her performance in ‘Shaka iLembe.’

With an illustrious career spanning years, she has quickly become one of the most sought-after actresses from South Africa.

NOMZAMO MBATHA WINS INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR SHAKA ILEMBE
Like those before her, she has undoubtedly capped her career with accolades.

However, the actress will be heading back home with a bit of extra weight in her luggage—a gold statue after winning ‘Best African Actress’ at the 2024 Septimius Awards.

The annual awards were held in Tuschinski, Amsterdam, earlier this week.

Nomzamo Mbatha outshined fellow South African actresses Enhle Mbali and Nqobile Khumalo, who were also nominated in the category.

The 34-year-old actress also faced competition from Osas Ighodaro, Uche Montana, Menna Shalabi, Fatma Nasser, and Nancy Isime.

Nomzamo Mbatha took it to social media to celebrate her big win. She posted on Instagram, “Coming back home with a little extra weight in my luggage. God’s dream for my life is pretty cool to witness.

“Thankful for the spirit of surrender and hard work: to trust in the journey and believe in the kept promises.”

However, she also thanked the entire cast and crew of Mzansi Magic’s Shaka iLembe for the big win.

Nomzamo Mbatha added, “You make me better… and the hundreds of our background actors who help us create magic on screen…

“Thank you to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has watched our show @shakailembe_mzansi and encouraged us/me along the way.”

The award is the latest piece in her cabinet. Earlier this year, she won the Forbes Women Africa Entertainer Award in March.

In April, Nomzamo Mbatha won ‘Best International Act for an Artist Representing South Africa’ at the inaugural Cultural and Creative Industries Awards.

CAREER
She had her on-screen debut in 2013 when she starred in Isibaya. No doubt she nailed the on-screen character of Thandeka Zungu with perfection until 2020.

However, some television series she has starred in include Umlilo, Holiday Swap and Shaka iLembe.

Nomzamo Mbatha has starred in several big-budget films, including Coming 2 America and Assassin.

Surprisingly, the actress is also part of the star-studded cast of Untitled Eighth Mission: Impossible, which is set to be released in 2025.
