Mosa Nkwashu says her Skeem Saam character mirrors her own life drama.

The world of television can be a wild ride, especially when you’re a teenager navigating through both the ups and downs of acting and, well, being a teenager! Mosa Nkwashu, the talented 17-year-old actress from Mahwelereng, Mokopane in Limpopo, is doing just that on SABC1’s hit drama series, Skeem Saam. Currently portrayed as Lewatle, a Grade 10 pupil, Mosa is taking viewers through the rollercoaster of teenage life—stressful dads, crush dilemmas, and all!

According to Daily Sun, Mosa claims that despite her age, she finds her role both challenging and enriching. “Lewatle is a very interesting character to portray,” she shares. “She faces certain situations that I personally haven’t experienced. It’s fascinating to put myself in her shoes and explore what many teenage girls out there go through.”

It’s in these experiences that Mosa finds growth. Coming from a single-parent household herself, she relates to Lewatle’s situation on some level and appreciates the chance to explore those dynamics. “I enjoy portraying my character,” she said, “because Lewatle and I are different individuals, and that change challenges me.”
