Former Miss SA 2024 Top 9 finalist Chidimma Adetshina, who represented Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant, was crowned the runner up on Sunday 17 November in Mexico City.

Miss Nigeria Chidimma Adetshina was crowned the Miss Universe runner up on Sunday 17 November in Mexico City. Victoria Kjær Theilvig, who represented Denmark was crowned Miss Universe, making history as the first time Denmark took home the crown.
It’s been 61 years since a contestant from the country had placed in the top five of the competition. Miss Mexico María Fernanda Beltrán Figueroa is the second runner-up.
Chidimma made history as this is the first time Nigeria placed in the Top three of the international pageant. Taking to Instagram, she revealed her dreams had kept her afloat.
“Many wonder why I didn’t stop. Many asked, ‘Why not let it be for now? Your life might be at risk.’ Some questioned, ‘Why isn’t she giving up? Does she crave the clout?’ I sat back, overwhelmed with so many unanswered questions as life moved faster than I could process. But do you know what? My dreams have kept me afloat,” she wrote.

Chidimma is believed to have lived in Soweto, Gauteng. However, there weredoubts that the model actually lives in Soweto, as the identity theft controversy came into light.
The Miss Universe runner-up is also said to be a netball player.
Chidimma attended Hoërskool Bosmansdam High School in Cape Town, Western Cape.
She advocates for change on gender-based violence.
Chidimma is believed to have a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother.
