Miss South Africa Mia le Roux’s arrival in Mexico for the Miss Universe competition began with a warm and vibrant reception.
MIA LE ROUX IN MEXICO
Just days into her journey, le Roux has already captured international attention. She has done so not only for her beauty but also as the first deaf Miss South Africa.
This highlighted her powerful message of inclusivity and diversity on a global stage, according to IOL.
MIA LE ROUX AND REPRESENTING SOUTH AFRICA
For le Roux, representing South Africa is more than a title; it’s an opportunity to showcase the nation’s spirit of unity, or Ubuntu.
“It’s a big responsibility, but I trusted myself when I entered Miss South Africa, and I’ll keep that trust now in representing my country,” she shared before her departure.
Before she left, le Roux received South Africa’s national flag in a symbolic gesture from Brand South Africa. Representatives emphasised her role as a cultural ambassador, according to Women and Home Magazine.
MIA LE ROUX’S JOURNEY
Her first day in Mexico was filled with cultural discovery.
Rather than diving deep into research beforehand, she has chosen to experience Mexico with an open heart and fresh eyes. She has allowed her journey to unfold naturally.
Le Roux’s focus, however, extends well beyond the pageant.
MIA LE ROUX’S ADVOCACY
Since winning her title, she has been actively promoting her advocacy campaign, ‘Mia Le Roux’s Movement.’ Her campaign is aimed at supporting individuals with hearing impairments.
Through her initiative, she hopes to raise awareness and funds for cochlear implants. This is a cause close to her own life journey as someone who has experienced the transformative power of these devices.
She shared that her mission is “to be a voice for those who feel voiceless.”
