It never rains but pours for celebrated multimillionaire Shauwn Mkhize, affectionately known as MaMkhize.
The Royal AM owner is making headlines after her recent court cases against the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
ROYAL AM SET TO BE SOLD – REPORTS
In her recent case against Sars, MaMkhize failed to win her bid to take over full control of the club. The KwaZulu-Natal multimillionaire is embroiled in a R40 million debt that has since taken a toll on her club.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the club is under curatorship and hasn’t played since December 2024.
Royal AM matches have been postponed, and the Premier Soccer League has yet to issue a detailed update on the club’s fixtures.
Last week, a rumour mill revealed that the curator would be submitting in court that Royal AM has to be sold, and if they don’t find a buyer, they will liquidate the club.
This came after Sars won a case against MaMkhize over the club’s control and administration.
According to reports, the curator also recommended that the PSL not expel Royal AM immediately since a buyer is interested in the club.
Reports have since established that a meeting is scheduled for Friday this week.
Against the reports, sportscaster Andile Ncude confirmed the news with an X post that has since gone viral.
Andile Ncube posted, “A sad day for our football, after months of speculations, it’s done. SARS have won, and Royal AM will be sold. Cry, my beloved PSL.”
The post has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped online.
However, no official statement has been released yet to confirm the news that has since thrust MaMkhize into the top trends.
R40 MILLION DEBT
Two years ago, reports emerged that MaMkhize had an R12.7 million debt. However, the debt ballooned to over R37 million after the club was ordered to pay Samir Nurkovic’s contract in full.
Reports have it that the debt has since ballooned to over R40 million. MaMkhize’s failure to cooperate with the taxman saw her R20 million La Lucia Mansion being raided.
Some of her expensive movable assets were reportedly attached during the raid. Earlier this year, Sars went after Royal AM, which is now set to be sold.
