Limpopo-born musician Makhadzi took to X on Monday, 7 October to complain about her low-ticket sales at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
MAKHADZI: ‘I MUST TAKE YEARS TO SELL OUT PETER MOKABA’
The musician Makhadzi received backlash for complaining about her ticket sales and for comparing herself to Chris Brown.
The Tshivenda singer wrote: “South Africa ke movie (is a movie). So, nna I must take 10 years to sell out Peter Mokaba Stadium tickets. Chris brown lamofa 2 hour (took 2 hours). Rekang di tickets before kella” (buy the tickets before I cry).
Makhadzi is hosting her One Woman Show at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 21 December, while Brown’s shows at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg will be a week before in December.
On August 5, the Limpopo singer confirmed that 90% of the tickets for her show are sold.
South Africans took to social media to criticise Makhadzi for comparing herself to the American musician.
SOUTH AFRICANS: ‘YOU ARE NOT CHRIS BROWN’
@nkulipp: “Lol, so why are you blackmail people, relax people will buy your tickets if they want to attend your show.”
@FootballStage_1: “You are not that well known shem. Stay in your lane.”
@custy_kgadi: “Meaning you should up your game and refrain from post negative, as if you are forcing fan to buy your tickets.”
@BonoloAnne: “Lmao no offence but you can’t compare yourself to Chris Brown, babes. I mean, international acts will definitely sell more than the national acts (except Burna boy) no offence but that’s just how it is.”
@Collen_KM: “We will buy your tickets Makhadzi, no need to emotional blackmail us.”
@lindamnkhonto: “Makhadzi you’re not Chris Brown. Cassper Nyovest #FillUp also took a couple of months to sell out. You will sell out the stadium, relax and keep marketing your show.”
