Iam not bothered by those criticising me for having four baby daddies – Gogo Maweni

Gogo Maweni announced that she is expecting her fourth child and the first with her husband, Sabelo Magube. Though a lot of people have come out to criticise her for having four children with four different fathers, Maweni, real name Lee Ann Mokopo, could not be bothered and says a child is a gift from God.

Gogo Maweni had her first child with an unknown man from the US, her second child with actor Sthembiso ‘SK’ Khoza, and her third child with fallen footballer, Siyabonga Zulu. At first, she didn’t want to have another baby. “I felt the three boys I have were enough. The fact that I have them with different fathers is an issue for some people but not for me.” She is not bothered by people criticising her for having four baby daddies. “People will always have something to say, it doesn’t bother me.

I have proven that I’m a mother and I can have children. Fortunately, I met someone who loves me and who I am married to. So, it’s only natural for me to bear children for him,” she says. “It took a while. I didn’t want a fourth child, but here I am pregnant and ready to go. I know this baby is going to bring so much joy and blessings.

Her family has so much to celebrate as Gogo Maweni and Sabelo are also planning their big wedding in August. “This year has just been flourishing – a bomb after a bomb. We moved into our new house, we are busy, work has been good and everything is moving in the right direction. I am pleased to be pregnant currently and to be planning for our big day which I can’t say much about as yet.” Gogo Maweni says this year has just come with a lot of blessings.

“I love seeing her happy,” she says. “On Mother’s Day, I usually start the day with my mom, spend time with her, then I move on to my stepmom and spend time with her as I did yesterday and I do this with all my kids as I am with them most of the time,” she says. “I’m very family oriented. I don’t have a lot of friends but I have a lot of family members and my immediate family and I are very close.” She takes her job as a mom very seriously and it is what encourages her to wake up every morning.

My boys are the reason I work so hard, they are the reason why I push and unfortunately they don’t have supportive fathers, so I have no choice but to do everything on my own and I have to show up for them,” she adds. “I will never ask my parents to help me with my kids financially but they will always be when it comes to raising them, protecting them and instilling values. I have to work hard and make sure they have everything they need. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be strong and passionate about what I do. They came into my life and changed everything
