GAYTON MCKENZIE DONATES R5000 TO RODERICK JAFTHA
Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie donated R5000 to former Generations and Rhythm City actor Roderick Jaftha.

His donation comes after the actor revealed to Zimoja in September that he couldn’t afford to pay R2500 rent for a single room where he stays with his wife and four children.

The actor also revealed that he didn’t have food for his kids, and he was surviving on handouts from friends and family members.

“I am struggling to pay rent. I have small kids, and two of them are still at school,” said the actor.

He added: “Since I only speak Afrikaans and English, it is hard for me to get those roles. I have been getting gigs, but nothing significant.”

Business Day confirms that McKenzie has so far donated R345 000.

FORMER ‘GENERATIONS’ ACTOR NEW ACTING GIG

The publication also revealed in October that the struggling actor Roderick Jaftha who is known for playing Glen Majozi in Generations has scored a new role in a new upcoming Afrikaans series on Showmax.

Sources from Showmax said the role was created for him after the actor mentioned that he was struggling to provide for his children.

Jafta confirmed that he landed a role but refused to explain further details due to contractual obligations.

“How do you guys (media) know these things so fast? Yes, I can confirm that I landed a role, but I can’t comment further,” he said.

“The one thing I have learnt is that it honestly helps talking about your situation. It really helps. I couldn’t put food on the table. As people, we are going through the most in life,” he adds.

Japhta reportedly wrote an email to Minister Gayton MacKenzie asking for help in October.
