‘Honoured’: Sacha’s dad celebrates his Springboks capping

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s father, Nick Feinberg, is beaming with pride after his son received his official capping as a Springbok.


 

The 22-year-old star has been a formidable force to the team since making his debut back in June.

Sacha was part of the squad that won the Freedom Cup following their victory against the All Blacks this weekend.

In a social media post, the Springboks revealed that they had officially capped their 2024 recruits.

They included the likes of Ben-Jason Dixon, Edwill van der Merwe, Jordan Hendrikse and Andre-Hugo Venter. Also receiving his green and gold blazer was rugby prodigy Saca Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who has made headlines over his exceptional talent.

His dad Nick – a radio personality – tweeted a picture of himself with his son following the ceremony with the caption: “Honoured”.

Nick – who was born in the UK to Aparteid hero Barry Feinberg whilst the latter was in exile – previously Omni Sports that he never pushed his son into sports. He also revealed that Sacha had rejected opportunities to play abroad, given his heritage.

He said: “Sacha has never had a desire to play for England. It’s not who he is or what he’s wanted. He’s always wanted the green and gold.

‘PROUD TO BE A SPRINGBOK’
Speaking in a media briefing last week, Sacha reflected on his first game against the All Blacks at Ellis Park.

He said: “There was a lot of pressure on me. A lot of guys will say they don’t see it, but I see it.

“I wanted to do well for the team and helping us get a victory. That was special, especially when we saw the support as we drove into the stadium.

Sacha added: “It was amazing, and I’m super proud to be a Bok.”
