From prison to one of the best actors: The inspiring story of Israel Matseke-Zulu

He’s been able to wrap up his career with multiple awards. He has, nevertheless, talked candidly about his childhood and his experiences as a teenager with the police, even in spite of his notoriety.

The fact that he is one of several celebrities who have been arrested for inappropriate behavior surprised a lot of people. Matseke-Zulu revealed that he had stolen a car at the age of twelve in the now-viral video that has received thousands of comments and reactions since it was posted on X, formerly Twitter.Masteke Zulu revealed in the interview that he lived in a one-room with an extended family and that, as a result, he had to turn to crime in order to exist.According to reports, in 1987, at the age of 14, he was apprehended.


 


 

 

 

He had committed a number of crimes, including burglary and unauthorized entrance. He developed a passion for performing while incarcerated and rose to prominence on South Africa’s small screens.Masteke-Zulu and other prisoners founded the Abaqobi Drama Group. Matseke-Zulu and other prisoners were made aware of the group’s presence at social events where they performed.He collaborated with Victory Sonqoba Theatre Company following his release. But in this layer, he went through casting calls for multiple production firms. Masteke-Zulu has acted in a number of high-profile drama broadcasts. His on-screen character of GP on the SABC1 drama series Gaz’lam from 2002 to 2005 gave him his big break. In Yizo Yizo, Matseke-Zulu starred as well. He acted in Isibaya as well.

One of his greatest on-screen characters, though, is Don from the Mzansi Magic drama series Gomora. Sannah Mchunu, an accomplished actress who portrayed Zodwa on screen, starred with him.
