Forget love, Siya Kolisi celebrates bromance on Valentine’s Day

Newly separated Springbok captain and Sharks player Siya Kolisi has shunned romance this Valentine’s Day, choosing to celebrate bromance instead. Siya and his ex, Rachel Kolisi, officially parted ways less than six months ago.

But this time last year, they were still very much in love.

SIYA KOLISI SNUBS LOVE FOR BROMANCE
On his Instagram Stories, Siya Kolisi reposted an IG post from rugby publication Rugby365. In it, the outlet praised several rugby “bromances” in light of Valentine’s Day.

Naturally, the bubbly Springboks captain was one of the stars featured, with his Bok bestie, Eben Etzebeth.

Siya and Eben are known for their heartwarming friendship, as well as their hilarious jokes trolling each other online and on the pitch.

The pals play together for the national team as well as the Sharks.

In his IG Story, Siya tagged Eben – the highest-capped Bok to date – and added a heart emoji.

Eben Etzebeth debuted for the Springboks in 2012 in a match against England. A year later, Siya Kolisi joined the squad. However, the dynamic duo met years earlier.

Siya told SA Rugby Mag that he met Eben before both joined the Springboks.

He said. “We’ve come a long way together … we met at Craven Week, we were both 18.

“He’s one of the reasons I moved to Western Province and was one of the first friends I had who spoke Afrikaans.”

Eben was just as excited to have Siya rejoin the Sharks last year after a year at Paris Racing92. Eben said of his sidekick: “He means so much for South Africa. He embodies what we want to be in terms of what he does in his off time for kids and people in need.

“It is great to have him back….He is an unbelievable player and warrior.”

THIS TIME LAST YEAR
While Siya Kolisi is celebrating friendship this Valentine’s Day, a year ago, he was still very much committed to his marriage to Rachel.

In an Instagram post, Siya shared a look at his coffee date with Rachel, the mother of his two children. The post was set to the soundtrack of Ringo Madlingozi’s love track Into Yam’.
