Fans of ‘House of Zwide’ are heartbroken by the departure of actor Vusi Kunene, who portrays the beloved fashion designer Funani Zwide.

Entertainment commentator Jabu Mcdonald has confirmed the news, stating, “Vusi Kunene is leaving ‘House of Zwide.’ The award-winning actor has completed filming for the new season and will no longer appear on screen from mid-July.”


 

According to TVSA’s July teasers for ‘House of Zwide,’ Funani Zwide’s storyline will see significant developments following Nandipha’s (KB Motsilanyane) death:

Wednesday 17 July: “Funani returns to HoZ but fails to find his passion. He subsequently walks out on a client and later admits to his sangoma that he feels lost and is in a bad space.”
Thursday 18 July 2024: “Funani decides to follow his heart and makes the startling announcement that he is leaving HoZ and going back to KZN.”
‘House of Zwide’ has been renewed for a fourth season due to its growing viewership, with the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) reporting over 4 million viewership figures for May and June, making it the most-watched show on e.tv.

The current third season concludes on Friday, 12 July, and the fourth season is set to premiere on Monday, 15 July.

Speculation is rife among viewers whether Vusi Kunene will return to SABC1’s soapie ‘Generations: The Legacy’ in his iconic role as the villainous Jack Mabaso:

According to the August teasers for ‘Generations: The Legacy,’ there is a mysterious return from the dead.
Wednesday 14 August: “Guess who’s back from the dead?”
Thursday 22 August: “Sphe is in a bad way after the shock she received.”
