DJ Tira’s case against singer Luke Ntombela to be heard in court

DJ Tira is heading to the High Court on Friday, 28 June, for the demafation case against singer Luke Ntombela.

The Afrotainment record label boss confirmed the development during his interview with DJ Sbu on Radio 2000 on Tuesday, 25 June.

LUKE NTOMBELA ACCUSES DJ TIRA OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
In May this year, Luke (who is a former Clash of The Choirs contestant) took to Facebook to claim that she may have been sexually violated by DJ Tira. This, she said, was after she woke up naked in his bed. The former Idols SA contestant said she had blacked out and did not remember what happened between them.

At the time, Luke shared screenshots of what she claimed to be her WhatsApp conversations with DJ Tira, where she was pleading with the Thank You Mr DJ hitmaker to explain the events of the alleged encounter between them.

In the screenshots, Tira purportedly requested a face-to-face meeting with Luke to try and resolve the matter.

Following the allegations, the music producer slapped Luke with a cease and desist letter. However, the songstress – through a letter from her lawyers, K Matseke Attorneys — challenged the DJ to take her to court, saying she would continue to speak freely and publically about the allegations.

THE MATTER IS IN COURT
Speaking to DJ Sbu, Tira – who was accompanied by his wife, Gugu Khathi — said the best way to handle the situation is to allow the law take its course.

“As I’m speaking to you our matter is going to be heard on Friday at the High Court,” he said.

“You just find yourself being attacked by someone saying all sorts of things and you end up not knowing what to say.”

GUGU KHATHI EXPLAINS WHY THEY ARE TAKING LEGAL ACTION
Gugu, who is a businesswoman and former Mafikizolo dancer, said her family is being targeted.

“It’s become a trend over the years. We’ve started to recognise that every time we’re working on something big, something comes. There’s a lot of big things we’re working on now and I think three days after we spoke to say this is what we’re going to do, this happens.

“It’s like every time we’re working on something big, something must pull you back.”

Gugu further said that she knows Luke and harbours no hatred towards her.

“I don’t have anything against the sister, uLu [Luke], I know her very well. I was around, on the specific day she’s talking about, I was also around,” said Gugu.

She also explained that they decided to go the legal route because the allegations have had a negative impact on their business.

“We’re doing the [Hollywoodbets Durban July] marquee and we’ve got sponsors, they worry when things like this happen. They want to see what you say…it’s not about the pressure between us, it’s how you protect the business relationship, and people don’t want to worry when working with you,” she said.
