Early Life and Education
Clement Maosa was born on 9 May 1988 in Polokwane, Limpopo. He grew up in a village called Ga-Rammutla with his parents, two sisters, and a younger brother.
Maosa attended schools in his village and later moved to Polokwane to pursue his tertiary education. He grew up in a poor upbringing, and his parents were domestic workers.
Clement had a dream of becoming a soldier when he was young, but he changed his mind when he reached high school and decided to pursue acting instead.
He also developed an interest in music and dancing and joined various groups and competitions.
Clement enrolled at the University of Limpopo to study law and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree.
He also served his articles as a candidate attorney for a month before he decided to focus on his entertainment career.
Acting Career
Clement Maosa got his big break in 2011 when he auditioned for the role of Zamokuhle “Kwaito” Seakamela in Skeem Saam, a soap opera that follows the lives of young people in Turfloop, Limpopo.
He saw a notification on Facebook from SABC about the auditions and travelled from Limpopo to Johannesburg to try his luck.
He impressed the casting directors and landed the role that made him a household name in South Africa.
Clement has been playing the role of Zamokuhle since the first season of Skeem Saam in 2011.
He has portrayed Zamokuhle’s journey from being a high school student to a university graduate, from being an illegitimate child to finding his biological father, from being a victim of crime to becoming a survivor, and from being a shy boy to becoming a confident man.
Clement has also received several nominations and awards for his performance in Skeem Saam such as the Best Actor award at the Royalty Soapie Awards in 2014, the Best Male Actor award at the FAME SA Awards in 2015 and the Best Male Actor award at the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) in 2019.
Music Career
Clement Maosa is also a musician with a passion for singing and songwriting. He started his music career in 2017 when he released his debut single, Rhythm of Your Heart, inspired by his love for his girlfriend.
He followed it up with another single titled Good Life, which featured King Monada, in 2018.
In 2019, Clement released his third single titled Uthando, featuring Fifi Cooper and collaborating with Makhadzi on a song called Mama.
He is currently working on his debut album, which he plans to release soon. He describes his music as Afro-pop with hip-hop, house, and soul elements
Personal Life
Maosa is engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Kemo Manyoga. The couple engaged in May 2019 and welcomed their first child, a son named Bokang Maosa, in October 2019.
Clement is a devoted father who often shares pictures and videos of his son on his social media accounts.
He is also a philanthropist with a foundation called the Clement Maosa Foundation, which aims to empower young people through education, sports, arts, and culture.
