Chidimma Adetshina Crowned Miss Universe NigeriaSouth Africans embraced Chidimma Adetshina after she was crowned the new Miss Universe Nigeria on Saturday, 31 August.

This followed her controversial withdrawal from Miss South Africa 2024 due to the backlash over her nationality.

South Africans voted for Chidimma Adetshina after she accepted an invitation from the Miss Universe Nigeria organisers.

According to IOL, Adetshina, who represented Miss Taraba received 48 105 votes after Ufa Dania who was leading with 51 538 votes.

CHIDIMMA ADETSHINA: ‘I AM NOT GOING BACK’
The former Miss SA finalist, Chidimma Adetshina revealed this week that she’s not coming back to South Africa.

Adetshina declared on a Nigerian radio this week that she has no plans to return to the country she called home for 23 years.

OK Mzansi reports that the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria said on Cool FM this week that she wants to embrace life in Nigeria.

The former Miss South Africa contestant also said she wants to use the opportunity at Miss Universe Nigeria to bring people together and promote diversity.

“I’m excited I’m in my father’s land and I want to get to experience more about it. It’s been 20 years since I’ve been here. I just want to get to know more about the culture and where I come from,” said Adetshina in a video.

“My goal is obviously to win the crown of Miss Universe Nigeria, and I do have an impact that I want to share with everybody. As a woman who has obviously faced adversity, I want to use my story to bring people together,” she said.
