BET_Africa’s telenovela Queendom is reportedly making a return after it was cancelled due to actors not being paid on time.
‘QUEENDOM’ RETURNS
IOL reports that BET_Africa has confirmed that Queendom will be making its return to screens on Monday, 23 September.
Actress Linda Mtoba who portrays the role of Ntandokayise Mthombeni shared her excitement. “I’m thrilled that Queendom is returning to screens this September, taking the drama and intrigue to a whole new level, and I can’t wait for fans to see how these powerful storylines unfold.”
Sunday World previously reported that the show was canned due to actors not being paid on time.
Executive producer and Clive Morris Production boss, Clive Morris previously assured actors that they will be paid their salaries soon.
“I understand everyone is angry, and deservedly so. We have let you down and whatever the reason doesn’t help to put things right or make you feel better,” he said.
“I am happy to take it on the chin and accept rocks thrown at me. What I can tell you is that we are not sitting on the money and deciding not to pay people. We are actively working non-stop to get the funding to pay everyone,” he said.
ACTORS DUMP BET TELENOVELA
Actors Mduduzi Mabaso, Themba Ndaba and Sindi Dlathu have left Queendom to join e.tv’s House of Ziwde and Isiphetho: Destiny.
Musician and actor Sjava, who played the first-born son of King Banzi, Prince Mkhuseli Khahlamba also exited the show.
The show explores themes of cultural heritage, tradition, fate, ancestry, power struggles, identity and survival.
It also brings South African acting royalty to TV screens with a distinguished cast such as Hamilton Dlamini who plays King Banzi Khahlamba, Dawn Thandeka King who portrays the role of Queen MaNdlovu and many more.
Other cast members include Pallance Dladla, Samkelo Ndlovu, Silindile Nodangala and many more.
