The couple shared the heart-breaking news on their Facebook page.

Translated to English it reads: It is with great sadness that we announce that Alaska got her angel wings this morning. She walked to God’s paradise where our loved ones received her. Thanks for everyone’s prayers.

Just the day before, on Saturday, Anrika and Alvin were still hopeful that the baby would pull through. They shared the following on their Facebook page: ‘she is brave and strong … she’s trying to show us she is here and she is fighting … day seven is a miracle. She has never been so busy and present!’

Alaska was born prematurely at 31 weeks. In addition to being born early, there were also other complications. The baby did not show any movement since her birth.

‘SHERIDAN’ FROM VETKOEKPALEIS NOW FOCUSSING ON BEING A FATHER
Jacaranda FM reported at the end of April that Alvin Bruinders and his wife Anrika were very excited to share the news of a second child on the way. This was following 17 unsuccessful in vitro fertilisation (IVF) attempts. They consequently decided to use a surrogate.

Alvin Bruinders made a name for himself on South African television screens as ‘Sheridan’ in the popular SABC comedy Vetkoekpaleis. During his time on the show, he starred alongside Zack du Plessis, Willie Esterhuizen, and Hélène Truter, among others.
