NOMZAMO MBATHA SPARKS OUTRAGE WITH DURBAN REMARKS
She has since capped her career with several awards. Thanks to her huge social media following, she often trends whenever she posts or gets posted.

Nomzamo Mbatha is making headlines after one of her Durban remarks went viral.

She referred to ‘Durban’ as a small town in a now-viral clip that has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped.

She made the remarks as she introduced herself during a dinner. Fans quickly swipe at Nomzamo Mbatha, who was in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.

Others have noted that Durban was not a town but a city and that she should have better marketed the country.

Durban is one of eight metropolitans in South Africa under the administration of the eThekwini Municipality.

It is one of South Africa’s biggest cities from size to budget. However, it comes after Johannesburg, Tshwane and Cape Town.

Fans were convinced that Nomzamo Mbatha’s remarks were taken out of context.

An X user posted, “Durban is ranked as the 87th best city in the world out of over 10,000 cities, yet Nomzamo Mbatha referred to Durban as a small town.

“These Blacks who go to the US to look for work talk nonsense about South Africa.”

Another user added, “I was so disappointed, instead of saying, “ I am from the beautiful coastal City called Durban, it is in KwaZulu Natal where the Zulu Royal Kingdom is situated.”

CAREER
She had her on-screen debut in 2013 when she starred in Isibaya. No doubt she nailed the on-screen character of Thandeka Zungu with perfection until 2020.

However, some television series she has starred in include Umlilo, Holiday Swap and Shaka iLembe.

Nomzamo Mbatha has starred in several big-budget films, including Coming 2 America and Assassin.

Surprisingly, the actress is also part of the star-studded cast of Untitled Eighth Mission: Impossible, which is set to be released in 2025.

A few months ago, Nomzamo Mbatha received international recognition for her performance in ‘Shaka iLembe.’

She won ‘Best African Actress’ at the 2024 Septimius Awards in Tuschinski, Amsterdam.
