While a growing number of Mzansi celebs publicly walk away from their spiritual callings, award-winning singer, actress, and reality TV star Kelly Khumalo is boldly stepping into hers. In a time when many public figures are distancing themselves from ancestral practices, Kelly is choosing a different path—one of healing, connection, and spiritual service.
On Wednesday, 1 May 2025, the Empini and Asine hitmaker officially announced the launch of her Divine Healing Sanctuary, a space dedicated to spiritual consultation and traditional healing. Taking to her social media platforms, the 40-year-old mother of two revealed that she is now offering a variety of services rooted in African spirituality, including umsamo alignment, bloodline healing, breaking generational curses, spiritual baths, and the healing of childhood traumas.
“This is one hard journey with no map,” she wrote. “All you do is trust in God and your angels or guides to help you navigate. I may not have all the answers. I just know that God trusts me with this.”
Kelly’s announcement comes at a time when the local entertainment industry is witnessing a significant shift. Several high-profile personalities have recently renounced their roles as traditional healers. Among them is reality TV star and spiritual influencer Gogo Skhotheni—real name Tumi Motsoeneng—who shocked her followers with a public announcement on 2 April 2025. “I’m officially making this video to announce that I’m no longer a traditional healer. I’m no longer a sangoma. I’m no longer doing consultations and no longer giving out isidliso and imbiza,” she said.
Adding to the growing list, former Generations actor Thabiso Mokhethi publicly encouraged others in the spiritual space to reevaluate their paths. “Many izangoma have stopped practising. Even people who were involved in witchcraft or Satanism have come forward saying they’ve been set free,” he claimed in a recent social media statement.
Kelly Khumalo Bold Move
But amidst the wave of spiritual retreats, Kelly Khumalo’s bold move stands in stark contrast. Known for her powerhouse vocals, emotive performances, and a life often steeped in controversy—including her highly publicized relationship with the late Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa—Kelly has never shied away from complexity or public scrutiny. Her foray into healing feels like a natural extension of her multifaceted persona.
Her journey into the spiritual realm is not new. In 2024, Kelly Khumalo underwent a traditional initiation process known as intwaso to become a certified healer. Though she initially kept her progress private, she has since opened up about the experience and the ongoing nature of spiritual growth.
“I went through initiation last year. What I’ve learnt is that ‘intwaso’ doesn’t end. These days, I prefer speaking my mind and sharing,” she said.
Now, with the opening of her Divine Healing Sanctuary, Kelly Khumalo is not only embracing her calling—she’s extending a hand to others who may be searching for healing, understanding, and spiritual realignment.
She closed her announcement with a message of hope and encouragement: “Book your appointment. This is a sacred space for those who are ready to heal and reconnect with their true selves.”
In a season of spiritual uncertainty for many, Kelly Khumalo is choosing to walk forward—in faith, in purpose, and in service.
