Award-winning Gqom queen Babes Wodumo has downplayed allegations made by Mampintsha’s sister, Pinky Gumede, regarding the late star’s wedding and lobola negotiations.
BABES WODUMO CLEARS THE AIR ON LOBOLA CLAIMS
Gumede claims that her brother did not pay their wedding expenses because he was broke at the time.
She made it known that Showmax and Parental Advisory Production footed the expenses since they were the showrunners of their reality show, Uthando Lodumo.
However, Babes Wodumo has since downplayed the allegations about the lavish wedding at the Ebandla Hotel in Ballito, Durban.
Her spokesperson and manager, Nondumiso Simelane, said: “Pinky knows nothing about lobola negotiations. Mandla (Mampintsha) was never broke, and he paid lobola from his own pocket.
“I can confirm that, as the Simelanes, we received lobola from Mandla and not from Showmax or PAP. Pinky wouldn’t know this because she’s never helped Mandla with anything.”
MAMPINTSHA’S FAMILY ‘THREATENS’ MOJA LOVE WITH LEGAL ACTION
The allegations come after Gumede threatened to take legal action against Moja Love. Pinky Gumede demands payment for a new reality show that will air on Moja Love in March.
She claims she hasn’t been paid for her role in the reality show. However, she hasn’t openly confirmed if the unpaid pay is from the two previous seasons of Uthando Lodumo or Wena Wodumo.
The new reality show Wena Wodumo is produced by celebrated actors and TV producers Thomas Gumede and Lungile Radu under their company Parental Advisory Production.
The company also produced seasons one and two of Uthando Lodumo.
However, against the news of the show’s premiere, Pinky Gumede warned, “Hell will break loose if this show is aired without my payment.”
She alleges that she hasn’t been paid and that they were once mistreated in the other seasons by the same production company.
Pinky Gumede said that Thomas once approached them, asking to shoot uThando Lodumo, but they were never paid as agreed. Now, according to reports, she intends to fight the new show.
“We shot two seasons with them, and we were badly paid. Even then, we were ill-treated, and we had to fight for our money,” she alleged.
She also has it that the showrunners also owe her late mother. “But I will not stop demanding money. I also want my mother’s money; if they fail to pay me, I’ll sue them,” said Pinky Gumede.
