They are many in the country that believe Refiloe Maele Phoolo popularly known as Cassper Nyovest has played the biggest role in putting the South African entertainment industry where it is today, as Free State Province born has been on top of the game ever since he came into public’s eyes by always doing things many never thought possible for a rapper.
Outside of music and being a businessman, Nyovest is also known for the love he has for sports, as having seen him becoming the first South African celebrity to host celebrity boxing matches where he took on SilkTalk back in December 2021 before taking on NaakMusiQ in April of this year.
Other than boxing the other sport he loves is soccer(football), as he always talks of how he would have tried to go into football if his music career didn’t work out, and how he wishes to one day own a soccer club.
Yesterday he got a chance to showcase his soccer skills as he was part of the South African Hip Hop soccer team that participated in a four-team knockout tournament at Bidvest Wits Stadium, Johannesburg with the other teams being Maskandi, House, and Gqom.
In their semifinal clash, the Hip-Hop team took on gqom and managed to win 3 – 2 with Nyovest scoring one of the goals in a team that had his arch-nemesis, K’naan Forbes who is well known by the name AKA.
Nyovest’s goal was one for the ages, and he took the time to explain how well he struck the ball to a well-known sports photographer, Vino Snap.
Mufasa told Vino that before the game he told the opposing goalkeeper, DJ Cleo, that he was going to score against him, and that is what he did and after this, they should call him “Mr Cash and Carry”.
And again Nyovest shows South Africa and the world how versatile he is, and I think if he continues with his versatile way of doing things, I think no one will stop him from changing the game forever.
He continues to impress and doing his level best to stay at the top.
