Ukhozi FM presenter would have been celebrating his 46th birthday but he died before 48 hours left if his birthday.
Durban- Dark cloud is hanging over the media industry in Kwa Zulu Natal as a legendary news anchor and poet has lost the fight of his life.
Listeners of SABC radio station, Ukhozi FM, political leaders, arts lovers and artist have joined together in mourning the legendary news presenter.
It was confirmed on Tuesday morning that Ukhozi FM current affairs presenter, Bongani Mavuso sadly lost the fight of his life in hospital.
Mavuso, who was suffering from kidney diseases, had to be admitted at a hospital in Umhlanga, North of Durban on Monday when his condition got very serious.
He was due to celebrate his 46th birthday on Thursday, the 29th of September and he was looking forward to it. Little did he know that his big day will not come.
Mavuso will be remembered for his multi- talented skill in delivering news and arts as he was an award winning poet plus a book author.
He presented all current affairs shows in Ukhozi FM, the weekdays shows, Ezanamuhla, Ezisematheni and Abasiki Bebunda.
At the time of his death, he was hosting weekend current affairs shows, Ezangempelasonto.
That is where he used the platform of Arts as he had poets and book writers on that show.
His death shocked many people including political parties who issued their statements with messages of condolences.
The news of his demise was confirmed by his brother, Majuba Mavuso who said Bongani had to be rushed to a hospital after falling critical ill.
