MaNdlovu from Imbewu has joined ‘The River’ as Lindiwe’s mother, Thandeka Dlamini

TVSA reports that talented actress Thembi Mtshali-Jones will debut on 1Magic’s telenovela The River in October as Lindiwe’s mother Thandeka Dlamini.

The teasers indicate that fans of the show might start seeing her from Thursday, 5 October as the teaser reads:

“Have you heard the news? Lindiwe struggles with the ghost of her past.” The publication adds that the ghost is Lindiwe’s mother Thandeka.

The teasers also suggest that Lindiwe (Sindi Dlathu) and her mother do not get along and she will try to get rid of her, to avoid dealing with her traumatic past.

Tuesday 10 October: “Lindiwe’s plot against Thandeka backfires.”

Wednesday 11 October: “Lindiwe decides to deal with an old family member.”

Sowetan reported in February that the International Emmy Award-nominated telenovela, The River which first aired in 2018, scooping multiple wins at the SA Film and Television Awards (Saftas) over the years is coming to an end.

Phathu Makwarela, who is the executive producer at Tshedza Pictures said: “When we created The River seven years ago, we knew that we wanted to tell a story that will have a definite ending.”

“Now on its sixth season, we feel the time is right to bring the story of these beloved characters to an end, on our own terms and when viewers still treasure the show. As the saying goes, ‘a good dancer always knows when to leave the stage’, and now it’s that time for The River.”
