I Lost My Mum In 2021, A Fan Said I Used Her For Rituals – Singer Ugoccie Reveals

Singer Ugoccie reveals that she lost her mother in 2021 and that a fan said she had used her for rituals.

In an exclusive interview with Punch news media, the well-known singer Favour Ugochi Anosike, often known as Ugoccie, discussed her early hardships in music and how one fan accused her of killing her mother for rituals.

Ugoccie discussed her early education in an interview with Punch Newspapers, describing how she left primary school at the age of seven to take the common entrance exam, which she passed because she was smart, and how, at the age of 13, she took the senior secondary school exam. However, because she was only 13 years old, she was not given the opportunity to enroll in a higher institution, though she later studied microbiology.

Ugoccie disclosed that her music inspiration comes from the things she sees around her, and she is a lover of culture. She grew up listening to Onyeka Owenu and Osadebe songs. She likes musicians who make music with their native tongue, she likes it and projects her culture in everything she does.

Ugoccie revealed how she had always wanted to make it big, but she wasn’t financially stable, but she started becoming popular after she did a Remix of a Davido and Kizz Daniel one Ticket song, Davido reposted her on Instagram and encouraged her. She also spoke about how Tunde Ednut has helped her in her career.

The “Do you really like me” singer revealed that while her parents encouraged her musical endeavors and wanted her to pursue music, they also urged her to pursue a college education in case it didn’t. When he used to sing some songs, her father would always bring her along.

Ugoccie discussed the difficulties she faced when performing in the Igbo dialect and how some people disapproved of her songs. Others believed she wouldn’t succeed because she only sang Igbo songs, but Flavor and Phyno perform Igbo songs internationally, so her situation wouldn’t be unique, according to them.

She revealed how her followers had abused her online, calling her names like “weird,” “her music sucks,” and “music is not her calling.” When a fan said she had used her mother for rituals after revealing she had lost her mother in 2021, she chose not to comment because she had promised herself she would only engage with trolls who were out to ruin her career.
