Bongekile Mildred Simelane (born July 26, 1994), better known as Babes Wodumo is a South African gqom artist and choreographer. She rose to fame following the release of her breakthrough song “Wololo”, in 2016. The song later appeared on her debut studio album, “Gqom Queen“, released in late 2016.
The entertainer has been going through the most since late last year after loosing her husband, Mampintsha who recently lost his life by stroke and things have since been going from bad to worse for the popular singer as it has now been announced that she has now lost her mother in-law the same way she lost her husband, through stroke.
Wodumo and her mother in-law are well-known for never getting along since beginning of her relationship with her late Kwaito star husband but have since tried to patch things up after Mampintsha’s recent passing.
It has since been announced of the passing of the 64-year-old Zama Gumede, who died on Sunday, 15 January 2023 at the Wentworth Government Hospital.
Her daughter Pinki Gumede said she was in high spirits and made jokes, preparing for her departure surrounded by family, but sadly the unfortunate happened.
“RIP Gogo Ka sponge ungikhonzele kumnyeni Wami. lala kahle Magumede,” which translates to, “Rest in peace Sponge’s grandmother. Send my regards to my husband. Rest well MaGumede, she shared on her Facebook page.
Even though they have sorted out their differences, Zama raised of how she did not like the way the Gqom Queen chose to mourn her son Mampintsha. “One, no offence, I love Babes, she and I reunited and made peace at the funeral, but this is not how things are done” said Gumede to Zimoja.
May her soul rest in peace, condolences to the rest of the family and we can only wish the best for Babes Wodumo as her child did not only loose a father bt also a grandmother.
