“Last year was good to me,” she said, adding that she had featured in season two of uBettina Wethu, and was on Celebrity Mystery Box, where celebrities compete against each other in the kitchen.

Between November and December they started shooting iCherry yam, in which her character is married to an older man, played by Vusi Thanda (Tshawe in the sitcom Emzini Wezinsizwa).

“My character has not lived out her youth, so she is just living her best life with a little bit of cheating here and there,” Mgoqo said.

She added that one of her highlights was being an MC for vocalist Mlindo during his album launch four months ago.

The up-and-coming actress studied at Afda’s Cape Town campus but was unable to finish her third year of studies due to financial constraints.

In 2016, her Afrobeats single Pretty Bum Bum, featuring Patoranking, was a fan favourite, with the song played on various radio stations, and the music video aired on MTV Base, Channel O and Vuzu.

However, she said she’d had to pause her music career when she gave birth to a baby in 2016. To be able to provide for her child, she worked in the corporate world until 2019.
